Description: The Retirement Systems branch of the HR Systems group is working on a project which calculates pension payments for hourly personnel. The candidate will have strong business analysis skills and will be the lead analyst on the project. Responsibilities would include: • Communicating with the customer on business requirements, and advising Project Manager of change to scope. • Defining acceptance test objectives. Assisting in system and integration testing. • Analyzing business needs and shaping solutions to address business needs. • Use of a variety of requirements elicitation techniques to discover software requirements. • Facilitation of discussions of requirements scope, priority, and dependencies. • Applying the use case approach, among other techniques, to document and communicate functional requirements. • Working with Application Architects, Developers, Test Coordinators and other team members to ensure they understand the requirements. The candidate that is selected: • Will be assigned on a full-time basis. • May be called upon for off-hours support.
Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills appropriate to all levels of the organization. • Superior writing skills for technical and non-technical documents. • Able to facilitate small and medium size groups. • Able to interface directly with customers and to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical individuals. • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Computer Science, Business, Math, Engineering or Science.
Required Skills: Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience as a business analyst using full life-cycle system delivery methodology such as Summit Ascendant, Method 1, Navigator, Rational Unified Process including primary responsibility for performing analysis and creating early life-cycle deliverables. • Minimum of two years hands-on experience defining and documenting requirements using Use Cases. • Thorough knowledge of testing best practices including hands–on experience developing and executing test plans, test cases and test scripts. • working knowledge of Microsoft suite of tools and Visio. • History of successfully completing project work on a timely basis with minimal supervision. • Ability to work with customers to define business objectives for new project requests. • Competent with IBM-compatible PC environments, including Windows 2000, Windows NT, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0+, IIS 5.0. • Able to use Microsoft Visio. • Familiar with standard data modeling conventions and able to read and follow data through a conceptual data model. • First-hand experience applying a variety of techniques to elicit, analyze and document requirements.
Desired Skills: Minimum of five years business or technical experience, preferably with human resources applications. Desired Technical Skills • Minimum of 3 years experience as a business analyst on projects using an iterative, object-oriented system delivery methodology preferably the Unified Process. • Experience applying both traditional waterfall system delivery methodologies and iterative methodologies. • Experience as a business analyst on one or more projects with an outsource component. • Two + years HTML.
