Pharmacy Technician
Job Brief: This position supports pharmacological services by stocking, assembling, and distributing medications.
Essential Functions:
- Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory levels; anticipating needed medication and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; removing outdated drugs.
- Maintains records by recording and filing physician’s orders and prescriptions.
- Helps healthcare providers and patients by greeting them in person or by phone; answering questions and requests; referring inquires to pharmacist.
- Fills bottles with prescribed tablets and capsules, and inputs prescriptions into computer system.
- Assists Pharmacist to prepare and dispense medication.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other work related duties as assigned.
Job requirements:
- Pharmacy Technician Certification
- Registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
- Proficient use of computer systems
- Two years experience working in retail and/or long term care pharmacy
- Experience with maintaining inventory
- Knowledge of third party billing
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
