The hospital is licensed for 160+ beds and is accredited by JCAHO. In addition to the main campus, which has 133 beds, there is also a Senior Care Center with 30+ bed adult geropsychiatric facility. More than 33 medical specialties are represented on the 160+ plus physician medical staff. The hospital provides a comprehensive and impressive offering of inpatient and outpatient services, including 24-hour Emergency Care, Radiology, CT, PET Scan, Ultrasound, Open and Closed MRI Systems, CAD, Nuclear Medicine and an ACR-certified Mammography Unit. The Community is within an easy drive of New Orleans and the city is known for its antebellum homes and charming French inspired architecture complete with a National Historic District downtown. Visitors can walk on old brick sidewalks dating back to 1838, and homes built before the Civil War. Known as the home of Zydeco Music, the community hosts a series of free live concerts on Friday evenings in the spring. For recreation the nearby State Park features nearly 6,000 acres of rolling woodlands around a 2,000-acre artificial lake stocked with bream, bass and crappie. Families enjoy swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, picnicking, camping and more. There is a great Basin Wildlife Area considered one of the great ecological wonders of the United States. The basin, which abounds in all types of wildlife, is comprised of a maze of bayous, lakes, ponds and cypress swamps. Avid birders and photographers may spot over 300 known species of birds.
