Position Description:
The Clinical Pharmacist Advisor supports the Caremark strategic clinical mission of providing appropriate drug therapy through face to face interactions with key physicians by delivering clinically relevant information, physician specific information and patient specific information. The Pharmacist will be responsible to meet business unit target physician billable encounter goal by scheduling and conducting face to face visits with assigned target physicians. Clinical Pharmacist will deliver PDL message on every call to educate on PDL choice and to drive prescriptions to appropriate drug at the best price; maintain and update territory management system accurately documenting all calls, physician strategy and follow up; and establish physician strategy which maximizes the value of the Caremark PDL including documentation of ongoing strategy and results and utilization of appropriate support tools (health improvement pieces and standard reports).
**This position is based from a home office. Caremark currently has multiple territories available across the company.
Position Requirements:
Active pharmacy license in the candidate's state of residence is required. Clinical Pharmacist must be able to gain access to physicians and effectively deliver clinical and health care information to aid physician in prescribing the appropriate drug therapy at the most economical cost. Must be able to effectively probe to gain perspective as to how a physician stratifies patients and which therapies he/she prefers to treat specific disease states. Clinical Pharmacist should have proven clinical skills to effectively present and discuss clinical information with target physicians. Must be able to drive to target physician offices and access physicians and their staff in their office environment. Pharmacist averages at least 6 calls per day. This position requires travel to two national and two regional meetings a year.
Education Required:
A minimum of a B.S. in Pharmacy is required.
Experience Required:
2-3 years experience in consulting with physicians in the office, managed care, long term care, specialty, hospital, or retail environment. PBM or managed care experience preferred.
